Construction Value Almost $1B in 2012, says Statistics Bureau

RAMALLAH, June 4, 2013 (WAFA) - The value of construction of new buildings and additions in Palestine in 2012 was $908.9 million, said the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) on Tuesday. 

The cost of current maintenance of existing buildings was$246.8 million distributed into $177.8 million in the West Bank and $69 million in Gaza Strip. 

Capital repairs and improvements to existing buildings totaled $392.8 million broken into $310.3 million in the West Bank and $82.5 million in the Gaza Strip. 
The results also indicated that the value of construction of new buildings and additions in Palestine increased by 2.1% in 2012 compared to 2011. 

The cost of current maintenance of existing buildings increased by 28.9% compared to 2011, while the cost value of capital additions, repairs and improvements to buildings decreased by 12.0%.
